Sugarland have become one of the most successful duos in country music, but they started out as a trio. Formed in Atlanta in 2002 by singer-songwriters Kristen Hall and Kristian Bush, the group became complete with the addition of Jennifer Nettles as its lead singer and front person. Signed to Mercury Nashville in 2004, the group scored an instant hit with their first single, 'Baby Girl,' and their debut album, 'Twice the Speed of Life,' was certified multi-platinum. Hall departed in 2005, and in 2006 the now-duo released their second album, 'Enjoy the Ride,' scoring two No. 1 hits and a Grammy for 'Stay.' Their third album, 'Love on the Inside,' scored three more No. 1 hits, and their fourth album, 'The Incredible Machine,' gave the duo another platinum disc. Sugarland went on hiatus afterward, with both Nettles and Bush focusing on solo work in more recent years.
