The Grand Ole Opry is hosting the celebration of Gentry's life and the live stream video. It begins at 11AM CT from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. Few details about what will take place during the service are available. For past celebrations at the Opry, there have been several speakers and performances from the deceased's closest friends in country music.
Gentry died on Sept. 8 when a helicopter he was a passenger in crashed just off a runway in Medford, N.J. Montgomery Gentry were scheduled to play a show nearby that night. The 50-year-old leaves behind wife Angie, two daughters, his duo partner of over 20 years Eddie Montgomery and thousands of friends and fans.
An obituary for Gentry remembered him as an outdoorsman and philanthropist with time and money. Upon his death, it became clear that those in country music remembered him as a friend first.

Gentry's death came just as Montgomery Gentry were preparing a new studio album for Average Joes Entertainment. A song called "Better Me" will be released digitally on Friday (Sept. 15).
The cause of Gentry's crash is under investigation. A preliminary report shows that the pilot of the helicopter he was riding in reported trouble with the vehicle's throttle prior to the crash.
