Walker Hayes Honors Late Daughter With Tattoo
Walker Hayes and his family recently suffered the devastating loss of their seventh child, Oakleigh Klover, who died shortly after birth. While there is no way to mitigate the pain, Hayes found a way to immortalize his baby daughter through a tattoo on his forearm.
The singer inked a tiny footprint, flanked by his child's first and middle names, and shared on Instagram with a thank-you to his Nashville-area tattoo artist for his careful work. Fans were very moved by the photo, with dozens commenting "beautiful" and offering heartfelt prayers to the family.
Hayes and his wife Laney have three sons and three daughters, and were expecting the birth of their newest addition on June 8. No reason has been given for the baby's passing.
The singer has taken some time off to mourn, but has confirmed he'll be back to work playing shows starting June 27.
Hayes also recently decided to bring his single "Craig" to life with the launch of a new charitable campaign. The country singer has started an effort called the "Be a Craig" Fund that generates money for people in need and recognizes the everyday heroes of the world.
Hayes' friend, Craig, inspired the song with a selfless acts of kindness that changed the country singer's life. Hayes and his family were in a time of need, financially, and a man named Craig donated a van to them so the father of many could have a safe vehicle to transport his kids.
