Carrie Underwood is preparing to star in a live, theatrical broadcast of 'The Sound of Music.' If she were to take her show to Broadway, she'd have her work cut out for her if she hoped to top a long list of country stars who've starred in famous musicals. Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton are the most famous of the bunch, but one legend had much more success.

Roger Miller only appeared for a short time in 'Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,' but he wrote the musical's soundtrack. That was enough to garner him seven Tony Awards. A 2003 revival also won three Tony Awards.

Neither Parton nor McEntire had as much success. In fact, McEntire wasn't even eligible for theater's biggest awards as she was a replacement in the 2001 musical 'Annie Get Your Gun.' Her performance was universally praised, however.
