Willie Nelson to Be Honored With Star-Studded Concert Celebration
Willie Nelson will be honored with a special all-star concert celebration in January. Titled Willie: Life & Songs Of An American Outlaw, A Willie Nelson All-Star Concert Celebration, the Jan. 12 event will take place at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena and be broadcast on A&E Network in 2019.
The concert will honor the living legend and feature some of his biggest hits performed by an impressive roster of artists. In addition to a set by 85-year-old Nelson himself, Alison Krauss, the Avett Brothers, George Strait, Jack Johnson, John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson, Lee Ann Womack, Lyle Lovett, Norah Jones and the Little Willies, Sheryl Crow, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, and Vince Gill will take the stage. More artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, along with several surprise guests.
Tickets for the event will go on sale Nov. 12 at 10AM CT online at Livenation.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, and at the Bridgestone Arena box office. The concert in January will be hosted by Blackbird Presents.
Nelson has enjoyed a fruitful career in music for the past six decades. The Texan has released more than 200 albums and inspired countless artists. He shows no signs of slowing down either, as Nelson recently teamed up with Irish classic rock legend Van Morrison at a Pittsburgh-area studio earlier this year.
"Willie and his songs mean everything to music artists and fans alike," says Blackbird Presents CEO Keith Wortman in a statement. "Like Willie, they have inspired us to remain true to ourselves in every possible way. This incredible lineup of artists on this show is a testament to that."
