Zac Brown Band will take part in the first-ever live-streamed Twitter concert. Twitter executives announced the news on Monday (May 1), sharing that the social media platform is looking into live-streaming additional concerts in the future.

The ZBB concert will be broadcast from Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta, Ga., on May 13. The show will be the second tour date scheduled for the band's Welcome Home Tour.

Other artists scheduled for Twitter-streamed concerts include Portugal the Man, Train, August Alsina and Marian Hill.

The idea of a live-streamed concert on the platform isn't entirely unfounded, as Twitter reports that seven out of the 10 most-followed users on its platform are musicians (via TechCrunch). Previously, Twitter live-streamed Billboard’s Grammy Awards pre-show, and it became the most-viewed entertainment live-stream on Twitter. Twitter also took part in streaming the 2017 ACM Awards red carpet pre-show in early April.

“Music has always been one of the most tweeted-about topics on the platform and now fans around the world will be able to experience concerts live on the same platform where they talk about what’s happening in music,” Twitter COO Anthony Noto says (quote via the Boot).

Zac Brown Band’s 2017 Welcome Home Tour is scheduled to kick off on May 12, the same day that the band's forthcoming album of the same name will be released. The band announced the release of their new record earlier this year. It will feature a collaboration with Kacey Musgraves with a cover of John Prine's "All the Best."
