The CMT Music Awards will switch venues this June, from their usual home at Bridgestone Arena to the Music City Center complex.

CMT revealed the news Monday (May 8), citing the venue change is because the Nashville Predators — Music City's professional hockey team — may have a playoff game at Bridgestone Arena that same night. The Predators have been on an incredible 2017 playoff run, knocking off the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues to advance to the NHL Western Conference Final for the first time ever. With seven potential games pending in the next upcoming series, it's impossible for CMT to book Bridgestone without possible conflict.

However, it's doubtful the country music stars of Nashville have a problem with the venue change, since many of them have consistently shown their support for the Predators throughout their ascent. A-listers such as Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum and Carrie Underwood (who is married to the Predators centerman Mike Fisher) even sang “The Star-Spangled Banner" before a few of the Predators 2017 home playoff games. It's been a long-running tradition to have country music stars at Predators games, but the playoff run has added a new level of excitement.

Though a new venue may require more planning, fans will most likely get all the same bells and whistles they're used to at a CMT awards show. Announced performers for the 2017 CMT Music Awards include Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett, with additional acts to be announced. Nashville's Charles Esten will host the broadcast.
