Dolly Parton, ‘The Voice’ Earn 2017 Emmy Nominations
Dolly Parton earned a 2017 Emmy nomination. Justin Moore almost did too, but not really. Blake Shelton did not, but his NBC reality show did. In fact, The Voice is up for two!
Parton's holiday movie based on her life is among the Emmy nominees in the Outstanding Television Movie category. Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love will go up against four others when the Emmys are announced on CBS on Sept. 17.
Moore appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the night "The Ballad of Claus Jorstad (Devil Stool)" debuted — he was the lead singer! But only Kimmel and Gary Greenberg are the listed as nominees for the spoof song in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category. Can a country boy get some love?
Finally, Shelton's NBC reality hit earned multiple nominations in 2017, including Outstanding Reality Competition and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Series. The singer himself was not listed as a nominee.
Overall, Saturday Night Live and Westworld scored the most 2017 Emmy nominations with 22 each. That's the most in the show's four-decade history. All 2017 Emmy Awards will be announced before, during or after the Sept. 17 CBS broadcast. It begins at 8PM ET this year, with Stephen Colbert set to host.
