After nailing Lonestar's 'Amazed' with his first performance, country crooner Scotty McCreery took on 'American Idol' mentor Jimmy Iovine's choice of 'Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not' by Thompson Square.

McCreery was thrilled with Iovine's selection, replying, "beautiful" when he learned that he would be singing the recent No. 1 country hit.

For the performance, McCreery strapped on an acoustic guitar and delivered a spot-on rendition of the Thompson Square song. He was backed by an electric guitar and a lap steel guitar.

"I never heard you deliver a chorus like that before," remarked judge Steven Tyler. "You were living that one. Beautiful!"

"There were so many moments in there that I loved so much," added Jennifer Lopez. "That's what 'the zone' feels like." She also asked McCreery to cut his hair for the finale. "I love with you that short hair and those rosy cheeks."

"It was really perfect, right in your range," said Randy Jackson, who even compared McCreery to Garth Brooks.

Backstage after the performance, McCreery said, "That was so much fun right there … and I had a chance to ask all the girls in America if I can kiss them or not."
