Billy Gilman, Sundance Head Move on to ‘The Voice’ Finals
Country music was well represented on The Voice Tuesday night (Dec. 6). Billy Gilman and Sundance Head both moved on to the finals in the results show that aired on Tuesday.
Both singers took the stage on Monday night (Dec. 5), to sing for their futures on the iconic reality television singing competition. Head sang a cover of the Judds classic "Love Can Build a Bridge," showcasing his vocal range with an arrangement that included a choir, while Gilman wowed the judges and the crowd with a stunning rendition of Celine Dion's "I Surrender."
Gilman was the first singer announced as going through to the finals. The singer was previously famous for his 2000 country hit "One Voice," which he released when he was 11 years old. He pushed forward with a stellar cover of Adele's "When We Were Young" in September, which introduced many fans to his adult voice. Gilman has gone on to a run on Adam Levine's team during which he has turned in one standout performance after another, including Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror," Rachel Platten's "Fight Song," Queen's "The Show Must Go On" and Adele's "All I Ask," drawing rave reviews from the judges and very active voting from the viewers at home.
Head was next, putting Team Blake in the finals once again. He previously made the Top 16 on American Idol in 2007, but admits he blew that opportunity. Since then, Head has cut songs for Universal Motown that were never released, and worked in a machine shop. His previous performances include a cover of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" and Keith Urban's "Blue Ain't Your Color." Both singers will compete in The Voice finals, which begin on Dec. 12 on NBC.
Aaron Gibson and Brendan Fletcher were eliminated on Tuesday, along with Ali Caldwell and Christian Cuevas. We McDonald and Josh Gallagher remained in the competition, and will face off with Gilman and Head on Monday.
