Brantley Gilbert will become a father later this year. The singer and his wife, Amber, are set to welcome their first child in November.

"We’ve had such a hard time keeping a secret,” says the soon-to-be dad. “But the doctors wanted us to wait past the first trimester. So here we are.”

But what kind of father will Gilbert be? It sounds like a tough one! "I really don't feel like my kids will be able to pull much over on me, but I am terrified to have a little girl," he admitted to Taste of Country earlier this year.

The singer says he'd be "mortified" to have a little girl and that his best friend already warned him that if he has a daughter, he'll soon be wrapped around her finger.

"You hear people say that have daughters, ‘Oh, I’ll go to jail,'” Gilbert says. “But no, I really will — I’ll go to prison. If a dude comes up my driveway that looks, talks, acts anything like me I’m going to stab him as many times as humanly possible."

While this may be an exaggeration, Gilbert didn't ease up at the thought, adding, "I do know I have to be realistic. It will be bad. I feel bad for that guy already."

Gilbert revealed the baby news to People on Tuesday (May 16). He and his wife struggled for two years to conceive and weren't expecting it to happen without IVF.

“This Dec. 18 will be five years without drinking for me,” he tells People. “I got a long way away from the things that I was raised to prioritize: being a husband and a good father. Coming back to that and this happening, especially unexpectedly … My heart just feels full.”
