On the season finale of Bret Michaels' VH1 reality series 'Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It,' Michaels surprised audience members everywhere by popping the question to long-time girlfriend Kristi Gibson. Michaels and Gibson have been together for 16 years and have two daughters together, Raine, 10, and Jorja, 5.

The proposal may come as a shocker for most people who are familiar with Michaels' lifestyle. It is widely known that the former Poison frontman has a serious problem with commitment. After all, he did have three seasons of his VH1 dating show 'Rock of Love with Bret Michaels' and never ended up in a serious relationship.

However, after suffering an almost fatal brain hemorrhage in April, Michaels started to figure out his priorities in life. He opened up about his relationship with Gibson to People Magazine and said, "Kristi – she's the one who put up with me all these years."

On the season finale of 'Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It,' the singer got down on one knee and asked Gibson for her hand in marriage. He then followed up the proposal by saying, "Please say yes or the rejection will kill me right now."After Gibson said yes, she and Michaels went to tell their daughters the good news. Michaels told them, "I did it! We'll all be together forever! Family hug!"

Michaels is also taking another huge step. The singer recently spoke to CMT about the upcoming release of a new country album. 'Bret Michaels: Once a Cowboy, Always a Cowboy' will hit stores in early 2011 and is said to have a contemporary, Americana feel. The rock singer has always been a little bit country, collaborating with artists like Hank Williams Jr. and Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus. Congratulations to Michaels on this feat and an extra big congratulations to him and Gibson!
