Carrie Underwood helped write "Cry Pretty," a new song that speaks to the last year of her life.

"It's emotional. It's real," she says of the power ballad. Hear the song HERE.

In a letter shared to her personal website, Underwood shared new details about the song, the upcoming album, her healing after a fall at her home and a tour. "Cry Pretty" was written by Underwood, Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna. "The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can't hold them back," she writes. "I hope that when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life."

"Cry Pretty" is the first single from a new album and will be released to radio at 6AM ET on Wednesday (April 11). Then, she'll perform it at the ACM Awards on Sunday (April 15). Of the album, Underwood reveals that she co-produced the project with David Garcia, a Grammy and GMA Dove Award-winning songwriter and producer known in country circles as a co-writer on Kip Moore's hit song "More Girls Like You" and Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line's "Meant to Be." This marks Underwood's first album without producer Mark Bright at the helm.

Everything Has Changed Since Carrie Underwood's Last Album

Underwood also teased a future tour announcement, but stopped short of making any proclamations. As of now, the only dates on her calendar are stops at CMA Music Festival in June and WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn., in August.

Expect the 35-year-old to be very visible during the NHL playoffs as husband Mike Fisher's Nashville Predators try to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals. She's already said she has plenty of surprises in store for the Preds playoff run, but has not spoken in any detail. It's expected the team will repeat a tradition started in 2017 in which superstar country talent took the ice to sing the National Anthem. Game 1 is Thursday (April 12) in Nashville.
