Cody Johnson’s ‘On My Way to You’ Video Is the Perfect Love Story

The ink isn't even dry on Cody Johnson's new record deal with Warner Music Nashville, but the former bull rider isn't wasting any time growing his already enthusiastic fanbase. The "On My Way to You" music video will capture the heart of anyone who believes in love.

Shot outside of Nashville, the video looks at the bookends of a relationship: the first blush of new love and the steadfast familiarity of a longtime commitment. Golden-hued vignettes feel nostalgic and suggest that the young couple we see dancing, drinking and shooting pool are the same as the more mature pair enjoying the same activities. It's as if you have discovered the scrapbook of their relationship.

Meanwhile, viewers get glimpses of Johnson as the ginger-haired cowboy who's narrating the story, guitar in hand, from a cozy front porch. Of course, longtime fans probably wonder why he and his wife, Brandi, aren’t illustrating this timeless love story.

"On My Way to You" is the first single from Johnson’s upcoming album, Ain’t Nothing to It, set for release on January 18. The mainstream newcomer is also on tour through December, including a three-night stop in Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo.
