Some of the most popular names in country music got their start as part of another act — some, even in a totally different genre!
There are, of course, a few obvious ones: Darius Rucker found success as the frontman for Hootie & the Blowfish in the '90s before launching his acclaimed solo career in country music. Steven Tyler, of course, remains a part of the legendary rock band Aerosmith, though he did sign to Big Machine Label Group to release a country album as a solo artist.
