Hear Danielle Bradbery’s Haunting Take on Ariana Grande’s ‘God Is a Woman’
Danielle Bradbery has announced the release of a collection of cover songs titled Yours Truly: 2018, and she's dropped her first one, an impeccable rendition of Ariana Grande's "God Is a Woman."
Bradbery changes up the arrangement of the song while lending her astounding vocals to Grande's massive hit. While Grande brings a pop and R&B flavor to her delivery, Bradbery offers a stripped-down take, adding a soft piano, electric guitar and cello that gives it an ethereal sound. The country star's voice is flawless as she owns the song, nailing the rap parts while allowing her voice to soar on the higher notes.
"You, you love it how I move you / You love it how I touch you / My one, when all is said and done / You'll believe God is a woman," Bradbery sings exquisitely, demonstrating confidence and maturity in her voice.
"God Is a Woman" appeared on several charts across the globe in 2018, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart and reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The sultry track also earned Grande a nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Bradbery's cover of the hit pop song is the first release from the Yours Truly series, which features the singer recording her interpretations of her favorite hits from 2018. She'll release covers of prominent tracks — Kacey Musgraves' "Slow Burn" and "Psycho" by Post Malone — in the coming weeks, along with two other year-defining hits.
Bradbery released her current single featuring Thomas Rhett, "Goodbye Summer," in August of 2018. A solo version of the song originally titled "Hello Summer" is featured on Bradbery's 2017 album, I Don't Believe We've Met.
