Eli Young Band Open Up About How St. Jude ‘Changes Your Perspective’
Mike Eli and his Eli Young Band bandmates don't have to look far for reasons why St. Jude is important. The longtime college buddies now have wives and kids, as well as a greater understanding for how precious life is.
Once again, EYB visited St. Jude Children's Research Hospital during the Country Cares seminar in 2014. And once again, they were the ones whose lives were changed.
“It changes your perspective," Eli, the 'Dust' band's lead singer, says. "It’s one of those things that you’re really happy that a place like this exists.”
The foursome horsed around with a few patients before spending some extended time with one boy named Markell. It was nothing but smiles, but the group left knowing tough times were still in store for the boys and girls they met. But they also left knowing there isn't a place better in the world to take care of them.
“The families that come through those doors never pay a cent for the treatment,” Chris Thompson adds in the video above, before the band urge their fans to donate.
Taste of Country is halting coverage on all but the most pressing news stories in an effort to raise money for St. Jude. For 25 years, country radio, artists and record labels have helped raise more than $500 million, ensuring that no one ever pays a dime for treatment at St. Jude.
“No child should die in the dawn of life,” founder Danny Thomas once said. Help make that wish a reality by making a donation or becoming a Partner in Hope when you click the button below. Donations can be made by phone at 800-411-9898.
