Garth Brooks Nabs Another No. 1 Album With ‘Blame It All on My Roots’ Box Set
Garth Brooks' box set ‘Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences’ was not only a gift to fans -- it also gave the singer an early holiday surprise, reaching No. 1. on the country charts.
After Brooks unloaded a goldmine of country music -- an eight-disc collection of cover songs and hits all sung by the famous star -- country fans flocked to the store, braving the massive crowds on Black Friday to snag the box set. In total, Brooks' latest release contains 77 songs, 33 music videos, his live Vegas performance and a 68-page photo book -- quite the collector's item!
The album didn't just sell a little; rather, it made a huge impact. Brooks sold 163,000 copies from Thanksgiving to Sunday (Dec. 1). To make that number even more impressive, he accomplished this even only selling the collection at WalMart and not doing online or digital sales. 'Blame It All on my Roots' also came in third on the Billboard all-genre chart, just behind One Direction and Eminem.
Brooks is positively on fire these days with the success of the box collection and television ratings that doubled the viewers that Lady Gaga had in her primetime special. Needless to say, fans were simply gaga over Garth! In conjunction with his comeback, the singer has also announced two new dates at the Wynn Las Vegas, which will go on sale Friday (Dec. 6).
With 13 No. 1 albums, it's certainly been a "good ride, cowboy" for Mr. Brooks. Hopefully there will be lots more to come from the legend in 2014!
