George Jones Cancels More Tour Dates Per Doctor’s Orders
Octogenarian George Jones has had quite the roller coaster of health news this year. The legendary singer was released from the hospital at the beginning of this month after being treated for an upper respiratory infection. At that point, he planned on jumping back into his tour, but then two weeks ago he had to follow doctor's orders to postpone a set of weekend shows. Still, the 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' singer was determined to jump right back in, assuring his fans that he was on the mend and ready to rock.
Now, two weeks later, Jones has unfortunately had to postpone -- and potentially cancel -- all of his upcoming tour dates through May 20, which include every date he had scheduled in Canada. Once again, the delay in performing is at the advice of the 80-year-old singer's doctor.
Aside from his ongoing health issues, Jones has been in the news this week for ongoing family drama. In a public video to his fans, the singer accused his daughter, Georgette Lennon, of spreading lies about him on the internet and Facebook because she wanted his money. Lennon denies the claim, saying she has no interest in her father's money and never had any intention of spreading lies about him, but that she only wants to be close to him.
“All I’ve ever wanted is to have a relationship with my dad and for him to know how much I love him and for him to love me and want to be a part of my life,” she said in a recent interview. “I had hoped that we could resolve this between the two of us privately and at some point he would talk to me. Unfortunately, things have escalated even further.”
Hopefully, Jones and his daughter can mend their broken relationship, especially as he may want family around him as he continues to recover from his medical ailments.
