You know you’ve truly arrived when a city official declares a day of recognition for you. George Strait, known as “The King of Country,” will be celebrated this Saturday, Jan. 15, when Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett proclaims the day as George Strait Day! Strait is being recognized as the top-grossing concert act in Oklahoma City Arena’s history. Congratulations to Strait for being the recipient of such a high honor.

To date, Strait’s live performances have generated more than $5.4 million in revenue, as he has sold over 80,000 concert tickets for the arena, which opened in 2002.  Strait will perform on Saturday night, which is technically George Strait Night, with Reba McEntire, who hails from Oklahoma, and Lee Ann Womack.
