Jason Aldean Brings ‘1994’ to 2013 at the ACM Awards
Blake Shelton's introduced Jason Aldean by quipping, "Back in 1994, Hunter Hayes was still breastfeeding." The audience loved the crack, and everyone was in good spirits when Aldean took the stage to sing his current single at the 2013 ACM Awards on Sunday (April 7).
Along with his signature black cowboy hat, the hitmaker pulled his best ripped-up jeans out of the closet for the 2013 ACMs. He immediately got the crowd clapping, and when a mullet-clad Joe Diffie was displayed on the screen in similar fashion to a comic book illustration they went nuts. It was a party onstage with Aldean and his backup dancers.
The song's subject never appeared as many anticipated he may. With the response to his image during '1994,' one wonders what might have happened if Diffie walked on stage. Aldean received a deserved standing ovation for the performance of the track from his 'Night Train' album. Earlier in the night, his single 'The Only Way I Know' won an ACM Award for Vocal Event of the Year.
