Jason Aldean Promises to Bring ‘Country-Rock Flair’ to People’s Choice Awards
Tonight (Jan. 9), Jason Aldean plans to wow fans of all music genres with one of his tried-and-true country-meets-rock-and-roll performances. Aldean will take the stage before a national audience at the 2013 People's Choice Awards -- and he's ready to have a good time.
In a recent interview with Parade, Aldean dished that even though he's not used to playing black-tie events like the People's Choice Awards, he's not intimidated to perform.
"I’m not used to playing a lot of black-tie events, but I’m going to get onstage and have fun and bring a country-rock flair to the show," he promises. "It’s my first time being nominated, and anything that comes from the fans is extra special."
After playing one of his hit songs on the main stage, Aldean will be waiting in the wings to see if he wins any awards. The country crooner has been nominated for Favorite Country Artist and Favorite Male Artist. Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift and Blake Shelton also received nominations for the fan-centric awards show.
While Aldean is happy for his fellow country music stars, he says his vote would go to Luke Bryan.
"Luke Bryan is one of my closest friends, and I don’t think anybody has had a bigger year," he reveals. "I’m also a big fan of Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and Underwood. A lot of us hit the scene at the same time, so it’s cool to see your friends doing well."
Aldean's nominations are a true testament to the loyalty of his fans. Earlier this year, the award-winning singer was under fire for being accused of acting inappropriately with a woman who was not his wife at a bar. The crooner's wife has stuck by his side, and so have his fans.
"I want them to stick with me when things are going great and when they’re not going so great," Aldean admits. "The fact that they’ve done that is a testament to how amazing country music fans are. That makes me proud."
Surely, 'The Only Way I Know' hitmaker will make his fans proud when he performs tonight. Sounds like it's going to be a can't-miss performance!
