Though Joey and Rory Feek are on a devastating journey as Joey lives out the last days of her life with cancer, there are still bright spots, like their daughter Indy’s second birthday. In a new photo, they call today a dream come true — and a prayer answered.

The powerful image shows little Indiana on Joey's lap — a candid shot of a mother and daughter just being mother and daughter, with nothing else to worry about.

"Some birthdays are more than just birthdays," the duo write. "They're dreams coming true and prayers being answered."

Joey + Rory also posted a video on Wednesday (Feb. 17) featuring little Indiana beaming from ear to ear as Rory tells her Happy Birthday, with the caption noting she was ready to celebrate the minute she woke up.

Last week, Rory posted an entry on the family’s blog, This Life I Live, detailing their plans for the little girl's birthday party, which will include cupcakes, of course, and a theme centered around the children’s book The Gruffalo.

“Our plan is to put streamers up around Joey’s bed and move Indiana’s high-chair in beside her, so Joey can be part of it,” he explained. “So she can watch our little one eat her cupcake and rip the wrapping paper off her gifts. But Joey is very fragile right now, and so with all of these plans we have, we will need to adjust for what my wife needs."

Indy is the couple’s first child together, but Rory brought two daughters to the family when he and Joey married. The older girls, Heidi and Hopie, attended the Grammys on Feb. 15 on the duo's behalf after they received their first-ever nomination. The girls took a part of Joey with them, wearing some of her favorite jewelry pieces she’d given them. Joey + Rory were nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “If I Needed You,” but the award ultimately went to Little Big Town for “Girl Crush.”

Rory recently told the Tennessean that it was Joey's goal to live to see both the Grammys and Indy's birthday, and she's now achieved it.

Joey + Rory celebrated Valentine’s Day together, which marks a special day for them — the anniversary of their first date. Rory went all out for his wife despite Joey’s confinement to her bed. They also released their newest effort Feb. 12, Hymns that are Important to Us, filled with sentimental gospel songs that are close to the couple's heart.
