When the organizers of the eighth annual CMT Artists of the Year special (held Oct. 18) announced they would be turning their focus to a theme of hope and healing in light of the string of disasters recently hitting the country, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman did their best to show off some uplifting love.

The singer and his actress wife cozied in an adorable embrace on the show's red carpet outside Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center, looking happy and grateful to be together.

Urban, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Chris Stapleton, the five honorees of the night, were more than willing to put the spotlight on the victims of the mass shooting at Las Vegas's Route 91 Harvest Festival Oct. 1 — as well as those who have been affected by hurricanes and wildfires — rather than focus on awards at the show. Little Big Town opened Wednesday's show with “Rise Up” and “Stand Up for Something," and presentations of awards and formal speeches were skipped in favor of messages from the honorees directly to their fans.
