Missed Tuesday’s (April 24) episode of Pickler & Ben? It was a good one. Lauren Alaina was on hand to perform a fiery version of her current single "Doin’ Fine," but it was her comments about the fire in her belly to succeed in country music that seemed to get so much love from everyone watching.

"I owe a lot to that show," Alaina said when asked by co-host Ben Aaron about if she thought she would have succeeded in the music industry if she had not appeared on American Idol back in 2011. "I’m sitting here right now because of that show. I’m thankful."

“I think you would be here regardless," added co-host Kellie Pickler.

Did You See Lauren Alaina's ACM Awards Performance? WOW!

While there, Alaina also had the chance to reflect on the amazing year she has had, which included her first number one hit. “It’s been a year of ugly crying for me,” Alaina admitted, though she laughed as she said it. "I worked on this album for five years and ‘Road Less Traveled’ was one of the early songs I wrote. I just knew when we wrote the song, it was special. The song is about loving yourself and that’s been the hardest thing for me in my life. It’s been the biggest obstacle for me to overcome."

Alaina also still seems to be emotionally getting over the fact that she is ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year. "It's a different kind of achievement for me, because the fans have supported me so much and all of the awards I won have been fan voted," she says. "This one was really special to me because it was voted on by my peers.”

She also performed "What Ifs" on the April 15 awards show with middle school chum and fellow country star Kane Brown.
