If there ever was a couple that the media is willing to be together, it's Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, who were the last two standing for Season 10 of 'American Idol,' with McCreery eventually taking the win. Speculation abounded that the two were more than the "best friends" that they claim to be, especially when Alaina planted a rather forward smooch on McCreery when he was crowned the winner!

In the press room, post-finale, Alaina even joked that she would always keep their secret safe. It's got tongues wagging and pop culture watchers wondering. However, Us Weekly reports that Alaina, 17, said, "We're just really good friends. We really care about each other. Everyone wants us to like each other, but we just don't."

Alaina coyly avoided playing prognosticator, saying that maybe they would eventually date. "You never know what's going to happen 10 years down the road, but I doubt it," she said. "I think we'll always be really good friends."

McCreery told the tabloid that the ladies in his home state of North Carolina are lining up to get a piece of the action, saying, "They're going wild for me! It's pretty fun hearing what's going on back home."

Maybe Lauren Alaina needs to swoop in and scoop McCreery up for good? Are we trying too hard to make them a couple? Come on, they could be the next Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, singing duets and all that good stuff! Think about how much fun coming up with a nickname for them would be. McLaina, anyone? OK, maybe that sounds like it should be on the menu at McDonalds, but you get the point!

Even if McCreery and Alaina never admit to or actually become BF and GF, McCreery has a very adult way of looking at relationships in light of his big win. He said, "I'm still single. I don't want a girl who likes me because I'm the 'American Idol.' I just want them to like me because I'm Scotty. That's a hard thing to find, but it'll work out sometime." He finished, "I'm still young and I've got a lot of years ahead of me."
