Lauren Alaina's emotional new song honors the memory of her late stepfather, Sam Ramker, who she calls her "guardian angel."

Ramker died on Oct. 21, 2018, following a battle with Stage 4 cancer. Alaina teamed with Jon Nite and Zach Kale to write "The Other Side," which depicts him watching over her as she goes on with her life.

Here's the Story of Lauren Alaina's "The Other Side"

"I'll be waiting, take your time / And go write a story / That you can't wait to tell me / On the other side," she sings in the powerful chorus.

"He was always my champion. He was always my number one fan," Alaina wrote on Instagram on Monday (Oct. 21). "Now he’s my guardian angel."

Alaina performed a contemporary dance routine to "The Other Side" with her partner, Gleb Savchenko, on Dancing With the Stars on Monday night, earning the partners their best-yet score of 26 out of 30.

She turned to social media again on Tuesday morning (Oct. 22) to share a clip from the dance, writing, "I know the strength to get through this performance came straight from the Lord and my stepdad Sam. This dance wasn’t just for my family, but it was for all families who have lost someone they love. Last night was the most healing moment of my life. I have never been more proud of myself. What a true gift God gave me to share Sam’s story. He was a light in this world and will live on forever."

"The Other Side" is available for streaming and download across a variety of digital music platforms.

The 24-year-old country singer recently released a new single, "Getting Good," and she's slated to hit the road in 2020 on her That Girl Was Me Tour before joining Blake Shelton on his 2020 Friends and Heroes Tour. Shelton's tour will feature Alaina as a special guest alongside Trace Adkins, John Anderson and the Bellamy Brothers.

Lauren Alaina tickets are available for her upcoming shows.
