LeAnn Rimes is having trouble avoiding the evil stepmom stigma. In an interview with Britain's Closer magazine, the country singer opens up about life in the spotlight and how she deals with the "wicked stepmom" tag.

"I ignore everything that [Brandi] puts up on Twitter," Rimes says (quote via Xpose.ie), speaking of Brandi Glanville, who is the mother of her two stepchildren, Jake and Mason. "This is real life and it's not about Twitter or a reality show. This is our life and I take being a stepmom seriously. I love the boys like they're my own and they live with us half the time."

Meanwhile, Rimes — who married actor Eddie Cibrian in 2011 after the two met on the set of Northern Lights when both were married — says she's trying the best she can to combat the stigma.

"There is a sad stigma when it comes to stepmoms and there is kind of this 'wicked stepmom' tag. There is no handbook," she admits. "What it comes down to is that the kids are loved and cared for."

Rimes doesn't have any children of her own, but admits that she often wonders what her and Cibrian's future child will look like.

"We both have those eyes that go away when we smile," she confesses. "I used to hate my eyes as a kid and now I have a husband with the same ones — so maybe the baby will come out with those eyes, too!"

Rimes' latest album, Today Is Christmas, is available now.
