Lee Ann Womack, Willie Nelson Join Forces on Holiday Classic ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ [Listen]
The holidays are here, whether you like it or not, so cue the Christmas music! Lee Ann Womack and Willie Nelson have released a rendition of the holiday classic "Baby, It's Cold Outside," and if it doesn't give you the warm and fuzzies, nothing will.
The cover — available for streaming via Amazon's "All Is Bright" Holiday playlist starting Nov. 24 — offers Womack's pristine vocals, complemented by Nelson's signature singing style. As Womack tries her best to escape during a snow storm, asserting that "I really can't stay," Nelson begs her not to leave as, "it's cold outside!"
“It’s fun to take a standard song and figure out a way to make it your own,” Womack tells Entertainment Weekly of the duet. “The fact that Willie and I are both Texans and fans of Western swing made this treatment a no-brainer. It also made it one of the most fun projects I’ve ever been a part of!”
While Womack is no stranger to Christmas songs — she released her first holiday-themed album The Season for Romance in 2002 — the singer says she's dreamed of collaborating with Nelson on a holiday track.
“I’ve always wanted to have a Christmas record with Willie,” she says. “And I’ve always wanted to record something that wasn’t just oozing with clichéd Christmas sounds. So I just let him know my idea and we went from there.”
Listen to the song below. Those hoping to catch Womack on the road in the coming months are in luck as she recently extended her All the Trouble Tour into 2018.
