Lee Brice Slated to Co-Host ‘Today’ Show March 20
Lee Brice doesn't look anything like Kathie Lee Gifford, but the country singer is going to make his hosting debut filling in for Gifford on the 'Today' show alongside show host Hoda Kotb on Tuesday, March 20. Brice will co-host the fourth hour of the show with Kotb, as Gifford has the week off. While Brice may have some mad hosting skills (we'll have to see), it's likely he landed this spot because Kotb has been a fan of his since she put his 2010 hit 'Love Like Crazy' on her iHoda Playlist.
“I’m really excited to co-host with Hoda," Brice said in a press release. "I love that she loves country music and shares it with the world on her ‘iHoda Playlist.’ Buckle up Hoda, we’re gonna have some fun!”
In addition to serving as the show's co-host, Brice will of course be taking the stage for a performance. At Kotb's request, he'll be offering up a live version of his October 2011 single 'A Woman Like You,' which is currently sitting at No.9 on Billboard's Country Songs chart.
Brice has been pretty busy lately. The star, who recently helped Jerrod Niemann and crew to safety from a burning bus (all in a day's work), is about to release his long-awaited sophomore album 'Hard 2 Love' on Curb Records, due out April 24. Brice is also up for an ACM Award for Song of the Year for co-writing 'Crazy Girl,' the first No.1 single from Eli Young Band.
Speaking to Taste of Country about 'Hard 2 Love,' a couple weeks ago, Brice urged that he's never been more excited about his music than he is right now. “I was able to really go in with a lot of leeway from the label to make the record I wanted to make," he said. "We ventured out and did some really cool stuff … Musically, I’m a very diverse person, so there’s a lot of different types and angles of music on this record … different flavors of it."
Catch Brice's cameo as a 'Today' show host on Tuesday, March 20 from 10-11AM ET.
