Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X Debut ‘Old Town Road’ Live at Stagecoach, With Help From Diplo
Electronic deejay and producer Diplo dove head first into country music over the weekend, appearing during a number of sets at California's country music festival, Stagecoach. But perhaps the highlight was when he invited Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus to close out the event on Sunday (April 29), with the unlikely duo appearing together to give the live debut of the country-or-not smash "Old Town Road."
The crowd was one of (if not the) biggest of the weekend, extending through festival grounds, and phones were out to capture the moment, which was a poorly kept secret/really reliable rumor leading up to the show.
Together with Diplo at his haystack mix table (he's going country, remember), the trio performed the remixed version of Nas X's hot song.

After the performance, Cyrus took to Twitter to thank Diplo for having them crash his set.
Lil Nas X clearly had the time of his life, as it appears in a video shared to his official Twitter that shows him singing "Old Town Road" while the crowd screams back the words to him:
Cyrus helped Lil Nas X remix "Old Town Road" after his original version was removed from Billboard's Hot Country chart for not being country enough. The outlet quietly removed the song, saying at the time it "does not embrace enough elements of today's country music to chart in its current version."
Mere days later, the song made its debut on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, based on airplay on country radio stations around the United States. At press time, the remix that features Cyrus sits at No. 50 on that chart. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus recently finished filming a music video together.
Diplo will soon release a country project under his birth name, Thomas Wesley, which will also be the title of the album.
