Little Big Town Spread the Love With Vocal Group of the Year Win at 2017 CMA Awards
Defending champions Little Big Town scored another win for Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2017 CMA Awards and offered words of love and kindness.
Dustin Lynch, Brett Eldredge and Glee star Lea Michele united to present award for Vocal Group of the Year to the foursome for the seventh year in a row. The group used their few minutes to deliver a speech filled with a message of love and positivity.
"We're so grateful to be a part of this amazing genre of country music," Phillip Sweet said, humbled by the win. "We love making music, we love seeing your faces."
Karen Fairchild followed his kind words with an impassioned speech about spreading positivity and light. "Tonight should be about harmony," she says. "Kindness is an attractive quality. We actually could change the way things are going, we just have to step out and be together" before proclaiming that she loves country music "with all my heart" and thanking the fans.
"We are here tonight to spread the love...that's why we were put on this earth," Fairchild continued. Kimberly Schlapman also took the time to quote the wise words of Maya Angelou: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
LBT beat out the likes of Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band and Old Dominion for the win. "Better Man" songwriter Taylor Swift scored a win for Song of the Year earlier in the evening. The group is also up for Album of the Year for The Breaker.
