Logan Brill returns with the first set of new material since releasing her critically-acclaimed sophomore album, Shuteye, in 2015. Taste of Country has the exclusive premiere of "Giving Up," available Aug. 17, and it's loaded with feeling.

Co-written by Brill with Jacob Powell and Randy Montana, "Giving Up" was inspired by a relationship she was in at the time. As the singer explains, the song is personal — she  was struggling with trying to make a relationship work while on tour.

“I came up with the concept for ‘Giving Up’ while I was on the road," Brill tells Taste of Country. "I was in a long-term relationship that wasn’t going so well, and I felt like I would emotionally check out of it every time I would leave to go on tour. I remember I wrote down the idea for ‘Giving Up’ because I had reached a point where I was tired of mentally giving up on the relationship."

Brill says she couldn't get the refrain for the song out of her head, so once in the writing room with Montana and Powell, she offered the idea. The songwriters immediately connected with the concept — they've been there, too.

"The song means a lot to me because it came from a really personal place, dealing with the struggles of trying to make a relationship work," Brill adds. "In the end things didn’t work out, but I’m glad I was able to capture that emotion while I was in the headspace of fighting to be with that person.”

"I’m giving up feeling so damn empty / And setting fire to these 3x5 memories," she sings on the heartbreaking track.

Logan Brill's "Giving Up" Lyrics:

I’m giving up these numbers on these napkins / These buy me one more drinks and we’ll see what happens / I’m giving up whiskey’s and cokes these neon clouds of smoke / These not so funny jokes that I've been laughing at anyway / I’m quitting kicking the habit of trying to get over you

Chorus:

I’m giving in getting in my car / George Straight singing baby run on the radio / I could find it blindfolded in the dark / Pulling in your drive still feels like coming home / Open the screen door / Knock on your front door / Just to tell you / That I’m giving up on giving up / I’m giving up on giving up / I’m giving up on giving up on you

I’m giving up feeling so damn empty / And setting fire to these 3x5 memories / I’m giving up the bold faced lie that I’m alright / I’m damned if I don’t love you anymore

Chorus:

I’m giving up on giving up / I’m giving up on giving up

I’m giving in getting in my car / George Straight singing baby run on the radio / I could find it blindfolded in the dark / Pulling in your drive still feels like coming home / Open the screen door / Knock on your front door / Just to tell you / I’m coming home and / Baby I just can’t live without you / And I’m giving up on giving up / I’m giving up on giving up / I’m giving up on giving up on you / Giving up on giving up / I’m giving up on giving up / I’m giving up on giving up on you
