Randy Rogers Band are a well-known and respected act, especially in the Texas circuit, and songs like new single "Meet Me Tonight" prove their staying power. Featured on Nothing Shines Like Neon, their first independent album in over a decade, "Meet Me Tonight" was written by front man Randy Rogers and Sean McConnell.

The three-minute traditional ballad has Rogers reminiscing of a long lost love, hoping for one more night with an ex. The slowed music accompaniment brings to mind a distinct '50s blues vibe alongside Rogers' whiskey-soaked vocals. Wavering pedal steel further showcases the heartbreak and lonesomeness that are also evident within the song's poignant lyrics.

"Meet me tonight in a memory somewhere back in time / That old dive just south of Santa Fe when you used to look at me that way," Rogers begs.

The heartfelt song has a man trying to convince his ex to spend the night with him one more time by bringing up happier times like the apartment they once lived in that he frequently drives by to check on and reminisce about. Although he's tried his best to be strong, the song showcases a moment of weakness.

"I'm so tired of trying to be strong / I just wanna miss you all night long / So baby whatcha say one time for old times sake / You know my heart's still yours to break," Rogers sings on the chorus, which pairs with light percussion.

Did You Know?: In a previous interview, Rogers admitted that the song was a great example of how producer Buddy Cannon was able to take what he heard in his head and make it come out on the record.

Rand Rogers Band’s “Meet Me Tonight” Lyrics:

Meet me tonight in a memory somewhere back in time / That old dive just south of Santa Fe when you used to look at me that way / Come on baby meet me tonight at our old apartment off of Church and Main / Things are different now but it ain't changed / I drove by there just the other day

I'm so tired of trying to be strong / I just wanna miss you all night long / So baby whatcha say one time for old times sake / You know my heart's still yours to break

So come on baby meet me tonight / In this bottle of your favorite wine / Kill me slowly like these cigarettes / I ain't found a way to quit you yet /

I'm so tired of trying to be strong / I just wanna miss you all night long / So baby whatcha say one time for old times sake / You know my heart's still yours to break / So come on baby meet me tonight

I'm so tired of trying to be strong / I just wanna miss you all night long / So baby whatcha say one time for old times sake / You know my heart's still yours to break

So come on baby meet me tonight / Come on baby meet me tonight / Come on baby meet me tonight / Meet me tonight
