Scotty McCreery Snags Most Fan Votes to Win Best New Artist at 2012 ACM Awards
After a heated battle with other up-and-coming country artists, Scotty McCreery managed to garner the most fan votes to take home the Best New Artist trophy at the 2012 ACM Awards. McCreery, who has gone on to top the country charts with his debut album and single after hit single since winning season 10 of 'American Idol,' was absolutely overjoyed to be crowned the Best New Artist at the ACMs, and he could hardly contain his excitement.
After knocking out Thompson Square, JT Hodges, David Nail,Jerrod Niemann and Justin Moore out of the competition, Brantley Gilbert, Hunter Hayes and Scotty McCreery were the only nominees left in the running for Best New Artist. Last year's winners the Band Perry announced 'The Trouble With Girls' crooner as the ACM's 2012 Best New Artist, and he practically ran up to the stage, but not before he shook hands with Hayes and Gilbert like a true pro.
As he took the silver ACM award with a huge smile on his face, McCreery went on to verbally thank his fellow nominees Gilbert and Hayes, saying it was an honor to be nominated alongside the musicians. Looking dapper in a black vest, tie and button-up, McCreery said, "[I have to] thank my good Lord and savior, Jesus Christ... country radio... [and I have to] thank the fans. You rock!"
Way to go, Scotty! All of us at Taste of Country are so happy for you!
