Shania Twain is coming to The Voice. The country superstar is set to appear on some upcoming episodes as an advisor to the contestants.

Twain announced the news via Twitter on Thursday (April 13), writing, "Excited to announce that I'll appear on @nbcthevoice this month, as a mentor to the finalists. Tune in on Monday 24th April at 8pm ET/PT."

The Voice excitedly confirmed the news online, tweeting:

In her role as a key advisor, Twain will help the Top 12 contestants on the show prepare for their performances in the live shows by coaching them in stage performance and offering advice on how to deliver the songs, as other country stars have done several times before. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are among the stars who have mentored contestants on The Voice, and Luke Bryan served as an adviser to his good buddy Blake Shelton's team earlier this season.

Twain may be raising her profile in preparation for a new single, which she revealed in February that she would release in March. She also told Rolling Stone that a new album would follow in May, which would mark her first new studio album since Up! in 2002.

She has remained mostly out of the public eye over the ensuing years, but returned to the stage in 2012 for a residency in Las Vegas that ran through 2014. Twain hit the road for the Rock This Country Tour in 2015, which she billed as her final extended road tour.

Twain says her new album might come as a surprise to longtime fans. She describes it as “painful and melancholy ballads that evolved into completely upbeat songs.” The project was difficult at first, but Twain says she's confident in the result.

“By the end, I felt like I had climbed a huge mountain and was standing on top of it, looking God in the eye, and saying, ‘I’m here! What do I gotta do next?'”
