Taylor Swift Scores First Country Music Top 10 as a Lead Artist Since 2013
Taylor Swift is still riding high off the release of her latest studio album Lover—in multiple genres. The superstar's collaboration with country music trio Dixie Chicks, "Soon You'll Get Better," scored Swift her first Billboard Hot Country Songs top 10 since 2013 as a lead artist.
The song marks the first time the Chicks and Swift have collaborated. The stripped-down ballad features lush harmonies, and was written by Swift and Jack Antonoff for Swift's mother who is fighting breast cancer.
"Soon You'll Get Better" is Swift's 21st song to hit the Hot Country Songs top 10, and the former country star's first top 10 in the genre since her collaboration with Sugarland on their single "Babe" which was released last year. "Babe" peaked at No. 8 on the Hot Country Songs Chart.
Swift's last appearance in the Hot Country Songs top 10 as a lead artist was with her song "Red" from her album of the same name. "Red" peaked at No. 2 on the Hot Country Songs chart in December 2013.
As for the Dixie Chicks, the trio previously earned 14 top 10 singles on the Hot Country Songs Chart, making "Soon You'll Get Better" their 15th top 10 single. Their last top 10 single was their cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic "Landslide" which peaked at No. 2 in 2002. The group's last overall appearance on the chart was in 2006 with their song "Everybody Knows" which peaked at No. 45.
"Soon You'll Get Better" debuts in the top 70 at No. 63 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart. This marks the first time that Dixie Chicks have appeared on the all-genre chart since 2007 when their song "Not Ready to Make Nice" spent its last week on the chart. The song went on to win the group several Grammy awards, including ones for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
