Taylor Swift has remade her song "Lover" with new lyrics from the partner's perspective, sung by her friend Shawn Mendes.

The "Me" hitmaker took to her Instagram account to share the big news of her "collaborashawn," as she called it.

"I wanted to tell you about something that I'm really excited about," Swift says. "There is a new version of 'Lover' coming, a remix featuring someone that I'm such a huge fan of, who I've known for a really long time and someone that I've always really been dying to collaborate with so drum roll please... it is featuring Shawn Mendes!"

Aside from the new vocals, the remix also features two new verses from Mendes.

"He has taken 'Lover' and he has re-written parts of it which I think is so important because I love him as a writer and I also think that everybody would write a different love letter to their lover and I think his take on it is so beautiful," Swift boasts.

Mendes, 21, was the opening act on Swift's 1989 Tour in 2015 and was a special guest at her Pasadena concert on her Reputation Stadium Tour, where they performed his hit "There's Nothing Holding Me Back."

"We could light a bunch of candles and dance around the kitchen, baby," Mendes sings in his first verse. "Pictures of when we were young / Would hang on the wall / We would sit on the stoop I’ll sing love songs to you when we’re eighty / See I finally got you now, honey I won’t let you fall."

"Look in my eyes, they will tell you the truth," he continues. "The girl in my story, has always been you /  I’d go down with the Titanic, it’s true / For you… Lover."
