Better Together: Tim McGraw, Faith Hill Celebrate Duets Album Release on ‘Today’ [Watch]
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill celebrated the release of their first-ever joint album in New York City on Friday morning (Nov. 17) with an interview and performance on Today. During the interview segment, the couple discussed what recording was like for The Rest of Our Life, as well as shared the secret to their 21 years of marriage.
"We're different artists," McGraw admits. "We approach things differently. We're a different style of music. I think that my stuff is different and her stuff is different than it is when we're working together. We look at it like a third act. It's a whole different kind of music when we record together."
While recording The Rest of Our Life, the couple were in the studio together as they sang each song, which something they'd never done before. As Hill explains, they previously recorded each duet separately. Clearly, they work well together professionally and personally, thanks to a few things they've learned in their 21 years of marriage.
When asked of their secret, McGraw points to Hill.
"In the car, I drive," he says. "In the relationship, she drives. We make decisions about things in different ways, but we always talk about it before we do it. Having three daughters, we sort of acquiesce to mom."
Following their Today interview, the couple sang two of their individual hits (Hill did "The Lucky One," McGraw did "I Like It, I Love It") before joining together for the title track of their album, "The Rest of Our Life."
The couple recently extended their joint Soul2Soul Tour into 2018.
