Trisha Yearwood never imagined a cooking career for herself. She says it sort of just ... fell in her lap. During a Q&A at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, the singer opened up about her journey to the kitchen, as well as her music career.

“The cooking thing was completely an accident,” Yearwood admits. “I wrote a book with my mom and my sister for fun. I had no idea it would be a New York Times bestseller. I never dreamed that they would ask me to do a TV show. I’m the most surprised person of all.”

Yearwood is the host of the Emmy Award-winning cooking show on the Food Network, Trisha's Southern Kitchen. A new season of the show premiered on Jan. 2. She refers to it as her "second career," but it is her career in music that she remains most focused on.

“As long as I can sing and hit the notes, I want to do that,” she says. “If I had to pick one thing to do in my life, it would be singing, because that’s what feeds my soul. I can’t imagine not doing that.”

Yearwood is currently on the road with her husband, Garth Brooks, on his world tour. She'll also appear in an upcoming Fox musical called The Passion, airing in March.
