Twang and Round Get the Last Laugh in ‘I’m Still Here’ Video [Exclusive Premiere]
Twang and Round's new video for "I'm Still Here" makes an important point about judging others without being preachy.
The Kentucky-based duo of Vernon Roach (a.k.a "Kuntry Twang") and Brad Davis (a.k.a "Lil Round") have their own unique style that juxtaposes elements of rap, rock and country, which they call AmeriFlow. They bring all of those styles together for "I'm Still Here," in which the narrator reflects on how he's survived and thrived despite other people's low expectations.
"Always been told I won't live that long / The journey that I'm on is on a dead-end road / Ever since I could remember I've held my own / I'm still here / And I prove them wrong when this song comes on," Twang and Round sing in a very compelling chorus.
The song carries a "message of perseverance," Roach explains, adding that it was inspired by their own struggles.
"As a genre when we first started writing, recording and producing songs, people would say things like they have about every new genre of music, like, 'It won’t last,' 'It’s just a fad,' 'You guys will never make it,' etc."

Jon Conner from I4NI directed the video for "I'm Still Here," which shows Twang and Round making their collection rounds as they are tailed by a lawman who believes they are involved with drugs. The video ends with a twist viewers will never see coming, as he goes in for a big bust and discovers his assumptions couldn't have been more wrong.
The duo worked with Conner and I4NI's David Ray to come up with the treatment, and the video for "I'm Still Here" features one very special detail.
"The car in the video is a '65 Impala owned by Brandon Coffee, whose dad left it to him when his he passed away," Round shares. "His dad was a huge Twang and Round fan and came to all our shows. His dad was cremated, and his ashes are hanging from the rearview mirror of the car. The song is called 'I’m Still Here.' What an awesome full circle homage to his life and the music, which will live on longer than any of us!"
Twang and Round recently signed with Thirteen Skulls Entertainment, a new label founded by music industry veteran Ron A. Spaulding and MLB Hall of Famer Frank Thomas. They are set to release a new album, Way I Was Raised, on May 25. For more information, visit their official website.
