‘Walmart Boy’ Mason Ramsey Has Yodeled His Way to ‘Ellen’ [Watch]
The video of a little boy yodeling in a Walmart store has become so popular that even Ellen DeGeneres has seen it. She invited 11-year-old Mason Ramsey to appear on her show on Tuesday (April 10) and surprised him with some life-changed gifts.
Ramsey hopped on a plane for his first time ever (with his grandparents) to sit down with the talk show host, and he told her all about his dreams of one day going to college, performing on the Grand Ole Opry and becoming a famous country music star, just like his idol, Hank Williams.
Even if you don't know his name, you've probably heard him yodel. Ramsey found viral fame after a video of him singing Williams' "Lovesick Blues" in his local Walmart started making the rounds. As Ramsey tells DeGeneres, he actually sings in Walmart "all the time," seeing as it is the only store they have in his rural hometown of Harrisburg, Ill.
Who IS This Yodeling Kid?!
But he's now graduated from the aisles of Walmart to the stage of one of TV's most popular daytime shows. Ramsey treated the Ellen audience to a knockout performance of "Lovesick Blues," and in return, the comedienne made one of his life dreams come true.
DeGeneres presented Ramsey with an invitation to perform at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night (April 14), along with a check for $15,000 from Walmart to go toward his college fund.
The now-famous video of Ramsey yodeling in his local Walmart surfaced on March 24 and has since racked up more than 20 million views on the Twitter video alone. He's been singing since he was six years old after listening to his grandfather's Hank Williams records on repeat. Ramsey was crowned champion in the Beginner Division of the Kentucky Opry Talent Search in 2016.
