2016 CMA Awards Nominees Announced
Nominees for the 2016 CMA Awards were announced on Wednesday morning (Aug. 31), and the names on the ballot include some huge stars, as well as a few surprises.
Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley and Cam revealed some of the biggest nominations during an appearance on Good Morning America Wednesday, including Entertainer, Female Vocalist, Male Vocalist, Album, Song and Music Video of the Year.
Urban and Bentley will face off against each other in both Male Vocalist and Album of the Year, while Bentley is also nominated for Music Video for "Somewhere on a Beach," and Urban is up for Entertainer. Cam scored nods in the Song and Music Video of the Year categories for "Burning House."
Last year Chris Stapleton had a career-changing night at the CMAs, and this year he's nominated for Entertainer of the Year, as well as Single and Music Video of the Year. He also joins his wife Morgane to share a nod for Musical Event of the Year. Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris are in the running for Female Vocalist, and Morris' debut album, Hero, is also up for Album of the Year
Eric Church is really having a record year; he's nominated in five categories, leading the pack along with Morris and Stapleton, while Bentley, Urban and Carrie Underwood each scored four nods. Cam scored two nominations in total.
The 2016 CMA Awards will take place Nov. 2 in Nashville. The broadcast will air live on ABC. The awards celebrate 50 years in 2016.
