2019 CMA Awards Performers: Women of Country Bringing All-Star Medley, Collaborations
The Women of County Music are set to open the 2019 CMA Awards on Nov. 13 with a decades-spanning collaboration of hits.
Carrie Underwood will join Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton to head up an all-star female performance that will also include Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, the Highwomen (composed of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires), Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Tanya Tucker and Gretchen Wilson. Each will perform part of a country classic in a medley that will highlight the historic contributions women have made to country music.
Kelsea Ballerini will also join Lindsay Ell, Maddie & Tae, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce and Runaway June for a special performance. According to a press release, they will team for "an epic performance of an iconic CMA Song of the Year and CMA Single of the Year featuring a special appearance by Little Big Town."
Kris Kristofferson is set to receive the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, and he'll be subject to a musical tribute performance featuring Dierks Bentley, Sheryl Crow, Chris Janson, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh and the Brothers Osborne's John Osborne. They are are set to perform Kristofferson's classic hit, "Me and Bobby McGee."
Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton are set to perform their collaboration, "Dive Bar," on the broadcast, and Shelton will also perform his recent No. 1 hit, "God's Country," separately. Brooks & Dunn with Brothers Osborne, Dan + Shay, Kacey Musgraves with Willie Nelson, Lady Antebellum and Halsey, Old Dominion and Thomas Rhett have also been announced to perform during the 2019 CMA Awards.
Brooks & Dunn will team with Brothers Osborne for "Hard Workin' Man." Dan + Shay are set to perform "Speechless," and Musgraves will join Nelson for a collaboration that has been "decades in the making," according to a press release.
Halsey is set to make her CMA Awards debut in a "genre-defying mashup" with Lady Antebellum. Old Dominion will perform "One Man Band," and Rhett is slated to perform "Remember You Young."
They join previously announced performers Eric Church, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Pink with Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban as performers for the 53rd annual CMA Awards.
Parton will join For King & Country and Williams for a collaboration on a gospel medley of “God Only Knows,” “There Was Jesus” and a new Parton song titled “Faith" that has not yet been released.
The 2019 CMA Awards will air live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on ABC on Nov. 13. Underwood is returning to co-host for the twelfth year in a row in 2019, but her longtime co-host, Brad Paisley, is sitting this year out. McEntire and Parton are joining Underwood as guest co-hosts for the 2019 CMA Awards.
