Alan Jackson’s ‘Thirty Miles West’ Debuts at No. 1 on Country Albums Chart
This week is shaping up to be a pretty decent one in the lives and careers of Alan Jackson and newcomer Jana Kramer. Both of their brand new albums hit stores last Tuesday, and now the charts are in. Jackson's 'Thirty Miles West' knocked Carrie Underwood's 'Blown Away' out of the No. 1 slot, while Kramer's self-titled project comes in at No. 5, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
With almost 73K copies sold, 'Thirty Miles West' becomes Jackson's 13th album to debut at the top of the charts on release week. The album also comes in at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums sales chart, which includes all genres of music. 'Thirty Miles West' is Jackson's best first-week sales for an album since the release of his platinum-selling 'Good Time' in 2008.
On the digital downloads end of the numbers, Kramer's album is sitting pretty at No. 2 this week, which is quite an impressive feat for an artist's first album. Kramer's current single 'Why Ya Wanna,' is also holding its own on the charts. This week the tune is No. 17 on both Billboard's and Mediabase / Country Aircheck's country singles charts.
Congrats to both Alan and Jana on their big debuts! Now go out and celebrate!
