Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert Divorcing
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are getting a divorce. After four years of marriage, the couple is splitting up. They have already begun separating assets.
TMZ reports Shelton filed two weeks ago and a judge ended their marriage on Monday. Shelton’s representatives confirmed the news of the divorce to Taste of Country. The couple provided a joint statement to the Associated Press saying, “This is not the future we envisioned":
"And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
Reportedly, Shelton will get the Oklahoma ranch, while Lambert will get the family home in Nashville. While they’ve only been married since 2011, their love connection began in 2005, while Shelton was still married to his first wife, Kaynette Williams. The "Ol' Red" singer and Williams divorced in 2006, and after five years of dating, Shelton married Lambert at the Don Strange Ranch in Boerne, Texas.
The divorce news comes as a shock to fans, as there have been no signs of trouble aside from the tabloid rumors that have persistently dogged the couple since they first started dating. They have no kids, but had talked about possibly starting a family one day.
TMZ further states that Shelton and Lambert signed a pre-nuptial agreement before getting married, so the financial arrangements have been settled. Lambert doesn't perform live again until August 7 at WE Fest, while Shelton's next show is Friday night in Eau Claire, Wisc.
Taste of Country will update this story as more news becomes available.
