Brandi Carlile to Receive Impact Award at 2019 CMT Next Women of Country Event
Brandi Carlile is adding another prestigious award to her shelf: She is set to receive the Impact Award at the 2019 CMT Next Women of Country event on Tuesday (Nov. 12).
The three-time Grammy Awards winner is the fourth recipient of the Impact Award; she follows in the footsteps of fellow female country music stars Maren Morris (2018), Kelsea Ballerini (2017) and Brandy Clark (2016). The award is presented to female country artists who have made impressive achievements and substantial contributions to women in the music industry.
"Not only is she one of the greatest performers of our time, she’s an incredible advocate and champion for her fellow female artists, lending her support and starpower to up-and-coming artists in the genre,” says Leslie Fram, senior vice president of music strategy and talent for CMT. "We are truly thrilled to celebrate her monumental achievements, both as a solo artist, producer and as a member of the groundbreaking group the Highwomen, with this Impact Award."
CMT began its Next Women of Country campaign in 2013, in an effort to support and expose developing female talent in the male-dominated format. As a result, the emerging women who are part of the program have their music broadcast on CMT platforms, digital series and tours, the latter of which have been anchored by several female country music superstars, including Sara Evans and Jennifer Nettles.
The 2019 CMT Next Women of Country ceremony will be the program's seventh and will take place on at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's CMA Theater. It will be co-hosted by country music star Martina McBride and CMT's Leslie Fram.
