‘The Voice’ Hopeful Brennley Brown Performs Powerful ‘Up to the Mountain’
Brown, a member of Team Gwen Stefani, entered the Knockouts round with aspiring pop singer Aaliyah Rose when she delivered the incredible performance of the inspiring song. While other country covers of Little Big Town's "Better Man" and "Stupid Boy" by Keith Urban demonstrate her sweet voice, Brown really got to show off her impeccable range, belting out huge vocals while rounding them out with lovely soft notes.
Dressed like a country girl in a denim jacket, sparkly high-waisted skirt and red cowboy boots, the young singer truly delivered a knockout performance that exhibited control and diversity in her voice. Brown clearly proved herself to be a worthy contestant and a dynamic vocalist, as Stefani selected her as the winner of the round, prompting fellow coach and boyfriend Blake Shelton to steal Rose for his team, also earning her a spot on the live show.
Clarkson helped shine a spotlight on the powerful song when she performed it live in 2007 during American Idol's charity event, Idol Gives Back, that warranted a standing ovation. Brown scored herself a spot on The Voice with her audition of Urban's "Stupid Boy" and selected Shelton as her coach.
Fellow contestants Casi Joy and Ashley Devin also advanced to the live shows with their country covers during Knockouts round. Joy showed off her strong vocals on Maren Morris' debut single "My Church," while Devin kept it classic by offering an impressive rendition of the Reba McEntire's signature hit "Fancy."
