It's already been six months since we lost country music legend Toby Keith. Keith was more than a country music superstar; he was a father, a husband, a grandfather and a great friend to many, including Brett Favre.

Favre was one of the few lucky people that got a chance to speak with Keith in the days before he died.

Favre, an NFL Hall of Famer, described a friendship that goes back nearly 30 years during an interview with TMZ Sports.

They golfed often together and remained close. Every few months, Favre would call Keith, and they would catch up and talk about life.

Describing the final phone call he had with Keith, "He said, ‘I quit chemo,’" Favre shared, which is similar to what Keith told Taste of Country when we spoke to him one final time in November of 2023.

As we all know, sometimes the death of a loved one can still rock us to the core, months, even years after, hitting us at random times.

On Tuesday (Aug. 20), Favre was in his feels, and he turned to social media to remember Keith.

Favre shared a throwback picture of the two doing what they loved to do most together, golf. Favre also had a message for fans of both.

The NFL Hall of Famer said, "Toby Keith was one of a kind. He worked as hard as anybody and had a great time every time we got together."

Favre completed the sentiment with a message for everyone.

"You just never know when it’s your time to go. Make sure you tell your loved ones that you care about them."

Keith is and will continue to be missed greatly by all who loved and appreciated him and his work. Tributes like this from his close friends help us remember the good times that the country music icon was known for.
