Cade Foehner Is Chasing a ‘Crown’ in Inspirational New Song [Exclusive Premiere]
Former American Idol contestant Cade Foehner is back with his first new single since his run on the show concluded, and he's letting Taste of Country readers be the first to hear it. The singer is looking to inspire with his new song, "Crown."
The modern track features a heavy backbeat that helps propel distorted electric guitars in an uptempo groove that's a perfect bed for the uplifting lyrics. "Crown" encourages the listener to keep reaching high and fighting toward whatever dream is their passion.
"Whoa, whoa, ain't nothing gonna hold me down / Keep running, ain't stopping, 'cause one day I'm gonna get my crown," Foehner sings with the kind of gritty, soulful intensity that fueled his run on Season 16 of the iconic reality singing competition.
It's a sentiment that he relates to very strongly.
"What inspired me when we wrote this single was the fortitude that was there from the start," Foehner tells us. "No matter who you are, we are all running a race of sorts headed toward a goal. This song is an anthem to your race to get the crown."
Foehner was the resident rocker on Idol during Season 16, and he made it all the way to the Top 5 before he was voted off after a performance of Carrie Underwood's "Undo It."
Foehner and fellow Idol Top 5 finalist Gabby Barrett revealed that they were dating during the course of the season, and after the show wrapped, they shared their duet version of Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now." Foehner is currently on the road with Chris Lane on his Laps Around the Sun Tour, which features Barrett as a support act alongside Walmart Yodel Boy Mason Ramsey.
